The Grand Avenue
Primary Learning Center is located in the heart of downtown Orlando and
was established in 1926. Our school serves the Holden Heights
community, which is comprised of low-to-moderate cost homes, subsidized
apartments and a housing project.
Classes are
self-contained with an average enrollment of 19 students per class in
pre-kindergarten through 2nd grade. The school provides services
for Educable Mentally Handicapped (EMH), Specific Learning Disabled
(SLD), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), as well as
Speech and Language therapy.
The learning
environment is further enriched by the Family Service Center, an on
campus school partnership, which offers free community, health and
social services. Technology, lower class sizes and enrichment
programs provide educational experiences targeted toward student
success. Strategic staff development prepares teachers to meet
the unique needs of each individual student. These elements will
ensure that Grand Avenue will proceed into the twenty-first
century as one of the most successful schools in the state.
